The main goal of WOCMES Seville 2018 is to serve as a meeting point for all experts on the Middle East and North Africa who would like to publicise their studies, research and experiences in this field while exchanging impressions and making contacts with other specialists, creating current and/or future networks.

The Congress aims not just to be an epicentre of academic thinking, but also a space for reflection, debate and analysis from which new lines of thinking can emerge - in short, a place to learn and engage.

WOCMES Seville 2018 will also have its own particular character with respect to previous congresses, placing special emphasis on intercultural dialogue and studies concerning Al-Andalus, hallmarks of both the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, the event’s organiser, and the land hosting this international event.

Other initiatives will also be programmed alongside the Congress per se. They are meant to stimulate the atmosphere of interchange and knowledge about the Middle East from other standpoints beyond the purely academic and will include a book fair, film screenings, drama performances and spectacles as well as other cultural events.
