From 21/11/2017 to 23/11/2017
The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation continues with its path, this time at national level, with different acts of presentation and promotion of WOCMES Seville 2018. This time will be framed during the celebration of the seminar: Contemporary Arab Studies in Spain: present and future and also during the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the creation of Forum of Research on the Arab and Muslim World (FIMAM).
On the one side, the seminar will analyze by disciplines the evolution and status of the Arab studies in Spain. It will be opened by a keynote speech in the afternoon of the 21st of November in which there will be a synthesis of what has been the history of Arabism in Spain and the current status of the contemporary Arab studies in the country.
On the other side, the forum is an informal encounter for sharing and exchanging amongst researchers from all over Spain, though it is also open to researchers from other countries. Research projects in the initial, intermediate and complete stages will be presented in order to debate and learn about the different projects currently being carried out on the Arab and Muslim world.
The FIMAM is an initiative for scientific cooperation and thematic information about the Arab and Muslim world which brings together a significant portion of Spain’s research world working on these topics, with the participation of professors, researchers and experts from universities and research centers in Spain and other countries. Since it was founded in it has held annual meetings with the goal of building an information sharing network.
At the meeting, which will be held at the headquarters of Casa Árabe in Madrid, the Tres Culturas Foundation will have the opportunity to promote the WOCMES congress before a public of experts, many of whom are directly related to the important academic meeting to be held between July 16-22 next year in Seville.
Members of the FIMAM will be informed of the progress in the preparation of the congress, both in its academic (type of presentations, collaborations formats, institutions involved) and cultural (book fair, cinema fest, concerts and touristic-cultural visits) aspects.
